"Crying in the Chapel" is a song originally sung by Darrell Glenn, the son of Artie Glenn, who wrote the song specifically for Darrell in 1953. The original recording was released as a single in that same year. In 1960, Elvis Presley recorded a gospel-infused cover version of the song, which was meant to be included in his sixth studio album, "His Hand in Mine" (1960), but ended up being released only in Apr 1965 as a stand-alone single.
