"I Gotta Know" is originally a doo-wop song recorded by Cliff Richard in Sep 1959. The music was composed by Paul Evans, while the lyrics were written by Matt Williams. The song was always meant to be given to Elvis Presley, who recorded the song in 1960 and released it as the B-side of the single "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" (1960).
