"People Help The People" is a song originally by British indie rock band Cherry Ghosts, who included it in their debut album Thirst For Romance (2007) and released it as the second single off of it. The song was written by the lead singer Simon Aldred and covered by English singer Birdy for her self-titled debut studio album, released on 7 November 2011.

Birdy’s version stays true to the original melody, but dresses down its musical arrangement, allowing the piano chords to stand out by themselves where the original version would have them surrounded with plenty of other sounds. Lyrically, the song is described as being a lament by the perennial outsider looking for a home.
